Jac. Uittenbogaard & Zonen b.v. has been in existence for almost 100 years (since 1910). The company was founded by Jacob Uittenbogaard near Leiden. At that time he was growing besides flowerbulbs also potatoes, vegetables and roses. In 1930 Jacob and his three sons bought some land in Noordwijkerhout, where they were growing flowerbulbs and vegetables. Within a few years the nursery was enlarged up to 12 hectare. In 1971 they moved the whole company to Noordwijkerhout where they had bought 10 hectare of land extra. They specialised in growing flowerbulbs and the nursery enlarged up to more than 35 hectare. In the beginning of the fifties one of the sons started the trade to landscapers in Holland and forcing companies in Great-Britain. At the end of the seventies the first pre-packed flowerbulbs were sold to the garden centres. Nowadays the fourth generation of the family is in the board of directors.
