slow growth, green/blue needles, grey rugose bark; candles buds in March/April and change of old needles in October.
it likes very windy and sunny places both in mediterranean and mountain areas with a well-drained neutral ph soil (it is better to transplant it in a raised place in order to void water stagnation); water the soil only when it is very dry on surface; use slow release fertilizers in Spring and a treatment against fungal diseases in winter followed by an insecticide treatment with mineral oil.
cut off candles buds in April or before they become needles, lowering them at the same measure (i.e. 0,5/ 1 cm. about); regulate in October further growing of late vegetation; in November eliminate old yellowed needles by hand.
