Connecting made easy
Revisable branch channels from the company Richard Brink for every installation location.

Branch channels create a very specific dewatering channel that directs rainfall, for example, from drainage troughs to roof outlets. However, integrating these channels into existing dewatering systems tends to be less than optimal due to a lack of fixed connections. Richard Brink offers a solution to this problem with its Subterra branch channel system made of aluminium. This system is one of the first revisable branch channels on the market. Connected via an adapter, it can easily be attached to any channel produced by the metal products manufacturer at several points along the entire lateral section of the branch channel. Moreover, the sophisticated clip system guarantees quick and easy installation. Using clip connectors, technicians can extend the length of the branch channels and troughs as required and easily add elements such as inspection shafts to the installation.

Branch channels installed onto a green roof space direct this excess water under the planting soil and drainage layers to the nearest outlets. Rainwater on roof terraces and balconies is similarly directed from the loose material down under the surface area and on towards the drain. Branch channels are usually attached to the drain slots in the dewatering channels within the drainage layer. However, there is no firm connection between the channel body and branch channel, meaning rainwater does not always flow into the installed channel. The innovative branch channel system Subterra from the company Richard Brink is on hand to solve this problem.

Simple connection
The solution to the problem lies in the drainage troughs manufactured by the company: pre-perforated cut-out sections allow the trough to be connected at different points. An adapter that fits into the opening serves as a connecting piece for the aluminium branch channel. The integrated dirt trap also prevents leaves, dirt and loose material from making its way into the system. As the Subterra system is especially suited to green roofs, this feature also ensures reliable dewatering in the long term.

Just clip in
Thanks to its intelligent clip system, the channel can be installed in just a few easy steps. The company Richard Brink manufactures the branch channel in a standard length of 3 metres. This can however be extended using connectors depending on the installation location. Side branches and curves are also manageable without the need for additional resources thanks to T-pieces and corners in 90° and 30° angles. However, the user is not restricted to the standard models here: cut in half along the perforation lines, 90° corners are made into 45° and 30° to 15° corners. Inspection shafts lend themselves particularly well to visual inspections of the drain. They are also integrated into the branch channel system and feature cut-outs on three of their four sides where branch channels can be attached. The 100mm high shafts can optionally be raised by 50mm and 100mm using stacking elements. In future, Richard Brink will also offer gullies that can be connected to its branch channels.

Perfectly combined
The time-proven Stabile drainage trough is also offered by the metal products manufacturer in a special design featuring pre-perforated cut-out sections that can be combined with the Subterra system. Upon request, all troughs produced by Richard Brink can be adjusted specifically for this application in a standard design height. Richard Brink is thus able to fulfil every need here, irrelevant of installation location or visual appearance.

The jewels of façade design
When it comes to architecture, the trend towards aesthetically pleasing products is apparent in even the tiniest of details, both in public and private constructions. This also goes for dewatering or drainage channels used in façades or outdoor spaces: they are often chosen not just for their function but also for their visual appeal. With its designer gratings made of stainless steel, Richard Brink offers a variety of ways to enhance the appearance of dewatering systems. Similarly, attention can be drawn to curved parts of a building such as a revolving door in an entrance area using these cover gratings.

Legato, Staccato and Ritmo – the musical reference is reflected in all three gratings. Whether in the tread surface of the Staccato grating with its discontinuous bar structure, the rhythmically designed surface of Ritmo or the wavy appearance of Legato, all three models play with the perception of the beholder. And the special look of these gratings is not without its functional properties. The discontinuity of the longitudinal bar grating Ritmo, for instance, also prevents slipping.

Functional design
The designer grating Legato is made entirely of stainless steel and combines extraordinary design with functionality. The visual illusion created by this new product is particularly innovative. The perception of the wavy bars changes depending on the vantage point. When looking from above, the bars appear straight; when viewed from the side, however, they form a diamond-shaped structure. The grating ensures that surface water is completely drained away and demonstrates a high slip resistance. The Legato grating can be combined with both height-adjustable and fixed drainage troughs also available from the metal products manufacturer.

The linear, puristic design of the Staccato grating is fused with high-level functionality and slip resistance. Dots featured on the divisions between the longitudinal bars characterise the structure of the stainless steel grating. It can be powder-coated in any RAL shade, allowing the colour of the dewatering system to match that of the building. In order to achieve the effect of an apparently floating stainless steel structure, the tread surface is sanded off after being coated. All drainage troughs made by Richard Brink can be fitted with the grating. Whether Staccato, Legato or Ritmo, the longitudinal bar gratings are each available with a bar thickness of 20 x 3 millimetres. The metal products manufacturer is also happy to produce gratings to custom specification in terms of both dimensions and finish.

Prized design
Richard Brink is proud to have won awards for its product design: the linear structure of the Hydra Linearis grating received the renowned Red Dot Design Award in 2010, while the double-slit grating Gemini was honoured with the title in 2015.

For heavy loads, Richard Brink has developed the Fortis dewatering channel made from concrete, which complements the company’s selection of metal linear drainage elements. This new product is characterised by its low weight: the concrete channel has a nominal width of DN 100mm, height of 150mm and weighs just 20kg. Transportation, installation and storage is therefore much easier compared with heavier concrete channels. Despite its light weight, the channel can withstand a weight load class of up to D 400. This means it can be used for dewatering in a number of settings, such as private courtyards, parking areas, road construction, underground engineering and even industrial areas.

An enormous amount of force acts on areas exposed to particularly high wheel loads – due to lorry traffic, for example. The installed dewatering systems have to be able to cope with this at all times, which is why DIN 1433 “Drainage channels for vehicular and pedestrian areas” specifies load classes. The Fortis concrete channel is designed for classes A 15 to D 400 and can therefore be relied upon to withstand loads of up to 40 tons.

Reliably dewatering driving surfaces
The heavy-duty dewatering channel is used, among other things, in driveways, roads, courtyard surfaces in front of buildings and parking areas, where it ensures reliable linear drainage. Rainfall can flow over concrete inlets that feature run-off pipes. A direct connection to a shaft or existing channel is also feasible.

The channel’s sufficiently dimensioned concrete framing comprising base and edge restraints ensures load transfer. The channel body is made of fibreglass-modified, high-strength, waterproof concrete made by Richard Brink. It has wall and floor thicknesses of 20mm. The chosen concrete matrix guarantees wear resistance with regard to chemical influences. The leak-proof surface structure enables rain water to run straight off. The moulded frame is available either in stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel.

Meeting demands with different dimensions
Fortis is produced in a standard length of 1,000mm. 500mm-long channels can be supplied as accessory parts. The overall widths of the channels amount to 155mm (DN 100) and 206mm (DN 150). Three different heights are also available: 150, 175 and 200mm.

Installation in next to no time
The low weight of the concrete channel benefits transportation on the one hand and straightforward installation on the other. It can be mounted by one person without the need for extra equipment or lifting tools. Crossbars in the channel can be used as handles. When installed, the channels have to remain 2 to 3mm under the road surface. Cassette-shaped cut-out sections on the outer sides make sure that the concrete base can form a firm connection with the channel. A tongue-and-groove system with integrated rubber seals on the ends of the channel does away with the need for complex sealing work along the joints.

Creating visual accents with gratings
Together with premium designer gratings from the company Richard Brink, the Fortis channel presents a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel channels. The covers create visual accents in outside areas. Different models made from stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel are available. Just like the channels, heavy-duty longitudinal bar gratings and mesh gratings withstand the impact of traffic. The crossbars in the channel allow the gratings to be used with concealed locks. The Fortis channel can also be fitted with heavy-duty slotted channel tops. Made of 1.5mm stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised steel, they are suitable for load class C 250. Tops made of 3mm-thick material comply with load class D 400.

As the mercury rises and the days grow longer, the cold winter months finally give way to the garden and terrace season. When it comes to structuring outdoor areas, large plant boxes are a popular choice. However, transporting and assembling these products often proves tricky due to their heavy weight and the time it takes to put them together. The company Richard Brink has lightened the load here with its modular plant boxes made of aluminium. Quick and easy to screw together, the individual segments are transformed into high-quality containers that impress with both their stability and look. The “Line” range appeals through its additional pilaster strips that create attractive colour contrasts between the panels and further reinforce the box’s outer shell.

When arranging garden and terrace spaces at home, plant boxes have always been very much in vogue, also as a way of adding a splash of green away from flower beds. They give outdoor areas a modern, contemporary look while consciously setting colourful accents. The “Line” plant box range from Richard Brink is the perfect solution here with its well thought-out modular construction also ensuring the highest quality and stability.

Simply stable
Thanks to its individual elements, the aluminium boxes are easy to assemble and install. The screws are inserted through the inside flange of the respective segment and secured with nuts. The colour-contrasting pilaster strips positioned between the flanges add a special touch to the “Line” range. Besides their function as a connecting piece, they also strengthen the shell of the box. Both the side walls and the bottom plate are secured using screwed connections. Furthermore, the tie rods supplied with the boxes can be used to counteract even the largest loads for years to come. Drip trays that collect excess water are produced upon request. They also protect the ground on plastered and terrace areas from dirt and water marks.

The right choice for every preference
The company Richard Brink manufactures the modular plant containers using 2.0mm thick aluminium in heights of 400mm and 650mm – with a plastic coating. Both heights can be assembled in five different length and breadth constellations ranging from between 445mm to 1,390mm. Richard Brink’s range of goods with a colour finish can be combined just as easily. Customers can choose from two standard versions: with side panels in pure white (RAL 9010) and pilaster strips in iron mica (DB 703) or vice-versa. Upon request, the plant boxes from the “Line” range can also be manufactured in any other RAL colour subject to an additional charge per colour to cover preproduction costs.

Protect against wind and weather
The articles offered by the metal products manufacturer appeal through their high durability. To ensure this level of durability also for plants facing extreme weather conditions, the modular plant containers can also be lined and insulated with 20mm-thick Styrodur, providing reliable protection against frost and dehydration and allowing customers to enjoy their green spaces for a long time to come.

Raised beds with adjustable plug-in systems

In order to create a harmonious whole when planning and designing garden and terrace areas, the materials used have to fit the given space as best as possible and work well together. Sometimes just a few centimetres will decide whether individual elements can be used or not. When choosing from standard finishes, building contractors have little freedom and have to make compromises. With its made-to-measure raised beds, however, the company Richard Brink provides a brilliant solution, offering its customers planting systems that can be manufactured flexibly to the client's specification. Thanks to a plug-in system, raised beds can be created in no time that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. Used in various construction projects, raised beds from the metal products manufacturer have already proven their worth in terms of high-quality processing and stability.

Creating little havens
In the Düsseldorf apartment complex “Living Circle”, raised beds from Richard Brink form attractive boundaries between individual private gardens and surrounding public green spaces. Sometimes taking a radial shape, they pick up on the curves that dominate the layout of the building complex. Planted with hornbeam, the hedges create natural enclosures and ensure a pleasant climate during the warmer months. A total of 2,300rm of custom-designed raised-bed walls made from 3mm-thick aluminium was used here, stabilised with additional tie rods. At 500mm tall and 600mm wide, the beds offer enough space for the tall-growing plants to flourish. Moreover, the individually selected plastic coating in dark grey matches both the façade and the flooring, rounding off the project's coherent look.

Kitchen garden
In the garden of a detached family house in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, four made-to-measure raised beds are home to a colourful selection of lettuce, vegetables and herbs. The modular construction of the plant systems with their cleverly devised plug-in system allows the segments to be joined together quickly and easily. Covering a rectangular area and standing 1.20m apart, the raised beds are accessible from every side, even with a wheelbarrow. Filled to the top with soil, the 3.5m-long and 1.5m-wide raised beds have to be able to withstand high loads. Metal struts on the inside ensure sufficient stability and prevent the 3mm-thick stainless steel shell from buckling. The keen gardeners can therefore enjoy their vegetable plot for many years to come.

Visual enhancement
When faced with the challenge of designing a model garden for the North Rhine-Westphalia state horticulture show in Bad Lippspringe, the landscape gardeners also relied on the custom-made raised beds manufactured by the company Richard Brink. The planting systems divide the outdoor area into several, more manageable sections and draw attention to the vertical dimension thanks to their heightened structure. Larger and smaller raised beds with heights of 500mm and 275mm direct the eye across different levels and frame the various sections of the urban garden. In the RAL colour pastel violet, the raised beds adopt the beautiful colours of the plants and are a great eye-catcher no matter what time of year.

Made to customer specification
The metal products manufacturer offers its customers a great many options when it comes to planning and designing bespoke raised beds. The planting systems are made of stainless steel, aluminium or COR-TEN steel in thicknesses of 3, 4 and 5mm; single-piece lengths of up to 3.00m are possible. Stainless steel and aluminium models can be coated in all RAL colours at Richard Brink, turning the beds into a real garden feature.
