In 1965, Netafim pioneered drip irrigation in an effort to address Israel's scarce water and arable land resources. Today, Netafim is the global leader in drip-irrigation solutions for sustainable productivity: the Company's state-of-the-art drippers, micro-emitters and crop management technology systems enable cost-effective irrigation for optimal and sustainable results. Committed to helping the world grow more with less, Netafim's technologies and solutions lead to the production of higher quality crops and yields, while utilizing less of the world’s limited resources – water, land and energy.
Drip irrigation addresses not only water sustainability, but also related issues of sustainability. At the nexus of water, food security and energy, drip irrigation maintains a proven track record for tackling these global challenges. Targeting water scarcity and aquifer depletion, arable land reduction and soil erosion, and finite fossil fuel reserves and greenhouse gas emissions, drip technology is both comprehensive and cost-effective: farmers who use drip irrigation achieve water savings of 40%-60% or more, while producing greater and higher quality yields.
The global drip irrigation leader since its establishment 49 years ago, when the Company created a paradigm shift toward low-flow agricultural irrigation, Netafim is continuously expanding to further advance water sustainability. Operating 14 manufacturing plants across the globe, the Company annually produces over 2.5 billion meters of dripperlines for an ever-growing number of end users in over 110 countries. With 70% of the world's available freshwater water earmarked for agriculture, Netafim focuses on that industry, while offering water-saving solutions for other sectors including landscaping and mining.
A highly innovative technology, drip irrigation is increasingly making an impact on farmers' lives and the world of farming. Drip helps attract members of the younger generation to farming, alleviates poverty, reduces migration to urban areas, and builds capacity among the farming community, in general, and women, in particular.
Community and social responsibility have been core elements of Netafim's corporate identity since its inception. Founded by members of Kibbutz Hatzerim in Israel's Negev desert, Netafim is firmly rooted in the kibbutz movement's communal-driven system. This translates into the promotion of shared resources, values and responsibilities, while providing for all members of society regardless of age, gender or occupation.
