The association Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau Niedersachsen-Bremen e. V., VGL, was created in 1989 when Fachverband Nordwestdeutscher Landschaftsgärtner merged with Garten- und Landschaftsbau Niedersachsen – both associations were founded in 1965. Currently, it represents in its function as employers‘ and trade association approximately 380 companies and is one out of 12 regional associations being organized in the Federal Association BGL. Around 80 % of VGL member companies are recognized vocational tranining companies.
Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau Niedersachsen-Bremen generated a turnover of 1.07 billion Euro in 2019.
The VGL is divided into 5 regional groups with its head office in Bremen. In addition to representation in collective bargaining and representation of interests vis-à-vis politicians, unions, the public sector, the construction industry and other institutions, the VGL, together with the Federal Association BGL, offers its member companies numerous benefits and services.
