RootBlock:
The 1 or 2 mm thick RootBlock is a partition of the heavier type from our range (other thicknesses available on request). RootBlock is suitable for any type of root and soil and has for many years been an integral part in combating the unchecked growth of roots in many cities and towns.

RootBlock is cheap and has a high quality and long lifespan, guaranteed for 50 years, so that partitions can also be reused.

Partitions protect the infrastructure against root problems. They also protect roots from being pruned that is required if no partitions are installed.

The minimum distance from a tree to a partition is 1.5 m1 (depending on the type of tree, please contact us). This on account of the fact that partitions do not guide roots but only stop them. In most cases partitions are only applied in a linear way, not around trees, or the distance to the tree should be so large that stability is guaranteed.

Silva Cell - Root and Water management

Application:

The limiting factors in the growth of urban trees are small planting volumes and highly compacted poor-quality soil. The Silva Cell system provides large volumes of uncompacted high-quality soil while maximising the usable space above ground. Because the Silva Cell meets European trafficloading standards, it easily supports roads, parking spaces and paving while its modular design is ideal for almost any application. The advantages of large trees are numerous and range from aesthetic beauty and excess water management to reduction of high temperatures in urban areas. The Silva Cell enables the development of functional and beautiful trees in urban areas.

Parking spaces:

Footpaths and roads:
“Break Out Zones” are created for street trees that enlarge the rootable space underground.

Business parks and public grounds:
When urban trees grow larger they create more shade. This reduces temperatures in urban environments. Excess water is slowed, filtered and cooled, enabling highly efficient water treatment and evapotranspiration onsite.

The modularSilva Cell supports traffic loads while providing uncompacted soil volumes for bioretention, filtration, storage and recharge of stormwater runoff.
