Hornbeam

Green hedge with dark yellow leaves in autumn. This variant retains its leafs during the winter. By trimming this hedge every year the brown leaves remain until late winter. The decomposed leaves are a very good soil improvement. Hornbeams can be planted in any soil. Hornbeams have pointed leaf buds from which beautifully veined, simple leaves appear. For a nice compact hedge preferably trim at the end of May and end of August.

IMPORTANT: Does not tolerate closed paving.

Purple European Beech

A deep red-leaved hedge with shiny leaves, turning reddish brown in autumn. The hedge grows best in humous soils with good permeability. Withered leaves remain on the branches after the autumn colouring and so provide privacy and structure even in winter.

IMPORTANT: Does not tolerate closed paving, beech should not be kept too wet.

Portugal Laurel

A very compact evergreen hedge with narrow leaves. Tolerates shade but grows more beautiful in full light. Suitable for any humous and permeable soil. Fertilize between half May and early June.

IMPORTANT: Do not trim too early to prevent frost damage. Trim preferably between end of May and early June.

Eueopean Yew

An elegant evergreen hedge, very suitable for a tight hedge. Taxus prefer a slightly shaded spot. Can withstand severe winters. Slow grower, if necessary trim in summer. Suitable for slightly moist soils. Additional fertilization with lime is recommended.

IMPORTANT: Never plant taxus as fencing for horses, the leaves are poisonous to horses. Never plant in wet soils with poor permeability.
