Komatsu Ltd. was established in 1921 in Komatsu City, Japan. Important principles of the
founder company are quality first and development of innovative technologies. These
principles have been passed on to subsequent generations during all the years of growth and
are still valid nowadays and are supported from the company and staff members worldwide.

With factories located in Hannover, Düsseldorf, Newcastle (UK), Este (Italy) and Umeå
(Sweden) Komatsu guarantees that machines for the European market are mainly produced
in Europe and adapted to the needs of the individual markets. Besides construction machines
the product range includes forestry machines, forklifts and many other product groups.

Product range
Komatsu offers its landscaping customers a large product range in order to support them in
the best way with their daily work. The range comprises mini excavators with an operating
weight from 0,88 t to 5,64 t to compact wheel loaders WA70 to WA100 with a bucket capacity
from 0,75 m³ to 1,8 m³ as well as midi excavators – wheeled and on tracks – with operating weights from 7,9 t to 14,3 t. A range of skid steer loaders and backhoe loaders with 2-wheel and 4-wheel-steering complete the Utility range. Of course there are more than just those machines included in the complete product range. Some examples are machines for the construction branch, hydraulic excavators with an operating weight up to 777 t, wheel loaders with a bucket capacity up to 35 m³, rigid and articulated dump trucks, wheeled excavators with an operating weight up to 20,6 t, motor
graders and dozers. Due to this comprising range on highest technical level Komatsu is
recognized as global full-liner.
Innovation
Due to the consistent focus on innovation Komatsu as able to offer unique and high quality
products to its customers. Worldwide Komatsu runs the biggest wireless fleet management
system called Komtrax, which is standard equipment of all Komatsu machines.
The automatic monitoring of the machine location improves the protection against misuse and
theft of machines. Furthermore Komtrax allows directly monitoring of all important
operating parameters via computer, smartphone or tablet and can support an increase of
efficiency in terms of costs and downtime. The reports created by Komtrax can be used to
analyse possible cost reduction with the innovative Komatsu hybrid system as well as
intelligent machine control.
Hybrid excavators are equipped with an electric swing motor-generator. The created energy
can be used to swing or accelerate the engine. This results in a reduction of the time needed
for loading processes and an increase of productivity. In addition hybrid excavators are
environmental friendly as they emit up to 40 % less emissions.
An increase of productivity up to 30 % can be achieved as well by using the intelligent machine
control. This automation function supports customers to perform their work smarter, safer and
more productive. When the intelligent machine control is used there is no need for personnel
to check the surface profile any longer. This makes not only a cost reduction but also an
increase of safe operation possible.
