The elm historico-cultural is one of the most valuable plants in Europe. In the last decade nearly a third of the total stock of elms has been destroyed by the elm disease. Since the 1920s scientists have been searching for remedies and resistant species. The results of this research are highly resistant elms (Resista®-elms) which have been selected from their worldwide habitats especially with regard to vitality. Their habit, fast growth rate, beauty, modesty and adaptability are convincing.
Resista®-elms are solely grown and are therefore very vital and healthy. Resista®-elms have been proving themselves in thousands of plantings throughout Europe for over 20 years. Under strong conditions the Biological Federal Institute in Darmstadt is continuously testing the resistance against the causative organism of the Dutch elm disease (Ophiostoma novo-ulmi).
Resista®-elm brands (New Horizon, Rebona, Regal) are trademarked and registered into the European or German list of species. Since 2003 every young tree is saved by an implanted with an identification chip. This way every Resista®-elm is secured with its individual identity. Resista®-elms are marketed and planted only by selected partners under approved quality standards. Lorberg nurseries is one of these partners.
