The First Hollow Rope Made from Recycled Polyester!
At GaLaBau 2024, GEFA is also presenting the first hollow rope for crown securing made from recycled polyester. It was developed in collaboration with the renowned long-term partner Liros and has also passed all tests and weathering trials. The braid uses GRS-certified rPET yarn - recycled high-strength yarns that are 100% derived from PET bottles and further processed. Each ton of recycled PET produced reduces CO2 emissions by 1.5 to 2 tons, resulting in a CO2 saving of approximately 70% compared to conventional polyester.
Initially, the solution is available as a 4t classic variant for dynamic securing – without break or material identification threads for even purer recycling. The new rope is, of course, recyclable and will be taken back by GEFA if needed, just like all other crown securing materials.
Customers also do not need to make significant adjustments when it comes to installation. The proven braiding method ensures the usual simple and quick installation using splicing techniques. The recycling rope is available on a 50-meter spool and, in terms of possible service life – also with a tested 10 years in weathering tests – exceeds the requirements of the currently valid ZTV.
