The German government's climate protection programme focuses on energy and CO2. However, green roofs also make a special contribution to this, primarily through evaporative cooling. Based on the green roof potential, for example in the city of Hamburg, an estimate of the potential is presented and a link is made to a current research project of the Federal Environment Agency.
