The heygrün team envisions itself as part of the ecological transition. The company based in Cologne has great plans: It aims at providing scalable greened flat roofs. Daniel Porzig, founder and CEO of heygrün, and his colleagues have a concrete plan and strong partners to achieve this goal.

“I originally come from a place close to Düsseldorf. After finishing school, I successfully completed a dual study in business information systems in Stuttgart,” describes Daniel Porzig himself. “This was followed by a master’s degree at Kempten University, majoring in innovation, business formation and leadership.” The 26-year-old gained his first professional experience as a consultant for digital business models, working for a Cologne consulting firm.

“As a consultant, I mainly worked with medium-sized companies in the building sector,” Daniel Porzig continued. “During that time, I noticed that still only very few roofs were greened, although green roofs bring many benefits. They cool city centres, absorb fine particles, serve as rainwater storages, and offer new habitats for microbes. As a plus, you can often receive state funding for greening your roof.”

Daniel Porzig recognized an interesting business model and founded the company heygrün in late 2023. “We work at the interface between end customers and craftsmen,” he describes the model. “This brings benefits for both parties.” Home-builders benefit from a simple, digital, all-round carefree package with direct reference prices, state funding checks and statics analyses.

The experts for green roofs that are registered with heygrün – usually landscapers – also profit from the cooperation. “When cooperating with us, craftsmen do not get requests for proposals but fully planned orders – for free,” said Daniel Porzig. “This means, amongst others, that there is no need for them to do time-consuming customer communication and first inspections anymore.”

Daniel Porzig is already looking forward to participating in this year’s fair in autumn. “We will present some pilot projects we have worked on. And of course, we are very excited to get feedback from the trade visitors and would be delighted to sign cooperation agreements with interested landscapers directly at the fair.”

heygrün is one of the exhibitors at the joint stand Young Innovators. This area is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and can be found in Hall 3C.
