Our STAUDENMULCH, a perennial mulch, is the pH-neutral, tannin-free alternative to bark mulch. It does not acidify the soil and does not deplete its nitrogen, so no compensatory fertilisation is required. A layer of 3 to 5 cm suppresses weeds, protects against erosion, frost and heat, and lasts 3 to 4 years. The material absorbs up to 400 percent of its weight in moisture and reduces the number of watering rounds while the planting establishes. Its coarse structure makes it harder for slugs to cross and does not compact the soil. Mulch and planting therefore come from a single source.
