Slackline Facilities from Cologne
In our Newcomer series, we introduce you to various exhibitors at our joint stand Young Innovators. Today we present: BLOACS
He studied sport science and organised international sports events. He is a passionate outdoor athlete that loves mountain biking, climbing, and snowboarding. He originally comes from South Germany and today lives in Cologne. And with his company BLOACS, Bernd Lohmüller brings the joy of doing sports outdoors into urban surroundings – thanks to slacklining facilities that are built to last.
“I want to provide urbanites with easy and unlimited access to daily exercise,” the 46-year-old explains his motivation. “BLOACS offers starting blocks and slacklines that provide suitable challenges for everyone without requiring further equipment or any previous knowledge.” In addition, the facilities are a perfect gathering place for people of all ages to have fun and play together.
The blocks Berns Lohmüller uses as base elements weigh up to 1.5 metric tons (around 3,300 pounds). Considering that the blocks are made of concrete and measure 1.80 metres in length and 60 centimetres in height and depth (about 5.9 x 2 x 2 ft), this weight is not surprising. The slackline is stretched between these blocks.
The elements and the setup of the slackline systems sound easy. But the idea behind it is brilliant and full of technical ingenuity. The concrete blocks additionally serve as seats and on their sides, they provide space for slacklining tips as well as individual designs. And the mounts for the slackline are already built-in. The slackline itself is vandalism-proof, as it cannot be cut and is made of a flame-resistant material. The ratchet buckle for tightening the slackline is secured by a lock.
“Most of our customers today are local communities and schools,” says Bernd Lohmüller. He adds: “In future, we would like to reach more companies that could place BLOACS on their company premises. Slacklining not only benefits people’s health, it is also a perfect environment for colleagues to chat during work breaks.
If you would like to try slacklining yourself, you can do so at GaLaBau. Bernd Lohmüller reports: “One of the facilities designed by me will be shown at the stand of the Bundesverband Garten- und Landschaftsbau (Federal Association of gardening and landscaping companies), where everyone is invited to try it out.”
BLOACS is one of the exhibitors at the joint stand Young Innovators. This area is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and can be found in Hall 3C. NürnbergMesse offers companies in the International StartUp Area special conditions for participating in GaLaBau, the leading International Trade Fair for Urban Green and Open Spaces (www.galabau-messe.com/en). The fair takes places from 11 – 14 September 2024.
